Day Ninety-seven

Things are changing among the kitty kids. Alex is no longer hiding from Little Girl; in fact, last night they were playing together. I love it when the kitty kids are at peace with one another!

I just awakened for the 2nd time today. My adventures on Thursday wore me out and I slept most of Friday. This more is I was again awakened by Little Girl licking my face around 4:00 a.m., but went back to bed after feeding the kitty kids and slept until after 11:00. I'm still quite weary, but must find the means of waking up and having some energy!

Sugar and Little Girl have been chasing each other and playing together much to the morning. I love it when the kitty kids are at peace with one another!

My tiredness that began after Thursday's adventures finally departed this afternoon with some help of  5 Hour Energy . I receive a 12-pack from Amazon.com once a month; however, this month's will not arrive until next week so I purchased two bottles when I went grocery shopping this afternoon. 

With the energy I have had I've gotten quite a bit done today. Besides filling my cupboard with food for the month, I have also gotten ride of all remaining garbage bags and rearranged the kitty kids' feeding stations.

Alex, as I wrote above, is no longer hiding out and has been communing and playing with Sugar. Little Girl still avoids Alex (normal, since my old buddy bops the kitten on her head whenever she is within range), but she hops on Sugar and me, licking us until we push her off.

I watched my alma maters in two football game at the same time this afternoon: the University of Louisville (M.S.S.W.) defeated Temple University in a 45-17 win to extend its undefeated season to nine games. 

Unfortunately, the University  of Kentucky (B.A.Ed.) was humiliated by Vanderbilt by a score of 40 to O.

Kept up with Sandy, watched Monday Night Football, and tried to get my back to stop hurting.

It has been a lazy day for the kitty kids and me: I've watched NFL football most of the day and am now watching game 4 of the World Series.

Alex has relocated from his window perch to my desk.

I think he has made the change because the temperature is dropping, so his window perch is too cool for him.

Day Ninety-one

I ended yesterday's journal post celebrating the victory (in a really excellent overtime game) of one of my Alma maters, the University of Louisville (M.S.S.W., 1975).

I begin this journal post reporting the defeat of my fist Alma mater, the University of Kentucky (B.A.Ed., 1969) in a not-so-marvelous football game.

Unlike basketball season, when I can count of both U of L and UK having winning seasons, football is an extreme. Where the University of Louisville has an undefeated football season and is rated 16th in the nation in the BCS poll, the University of Kentucky has won only one game and isn't even rated.

I fell asleep following this afternoon's football game. Now awake, I am seeking the energy (again) to do housework. Thankfully, I seem to have recovered from most of the back pain that has plagued me over the past several days. Still, I can be up working only in ten minute or so intervals before my elderly body requires at least a 20 minute rest,

The kitty kids again greeted me when I came out of the bedroom this morning. That's a good feeling, except I realize that want they want is breakfast. Feeding all three at three separate feeding stations ain't easy!

I've been watching football all day; now it's time for baseball!

  

Day Ninty

I feel asleep while I was watching Thursday Night (NFL) Football and was not happy about it. Then  after Chelsea Lately, which I seldom miss watching, I wanted to sleep but couldn't until after 4:00 a.m. and slept until about 10:00 a.m.

When I walked out of my bedroom this morning, all three kitty kids were waiting for me and demanding breakfast, which I was hard pressed to serve them without tripping over the silly cats.

Later I finished writing and posting today's Friday Funnies.

It was not easy to complete because of Little Girl being all over me:

I ended the day watching the University of Louisville defeat the University of Cincinnati in a great overtime game.

Day Eighty-nine

I have arrived at the point in my life when I have learned that I must wear my hearing aids whenever I'm awake. Up until now, I have basically considered them to be optional, even though I realized that I have usually missed more than half of what I could have heard. 

That 50%+ deafness is now up to about 70% and I've decided I must wear my aids. I suppose it's another step in the disintegration of my younger self.

After my meals-on-wheels lunch, I fell asleep. I didn't plan to, but I was overcome by weariness.

Although I haven't dreamed much recently, I did dream during the 90 minute post-lunch snooze. In the dream I looked as I do now, but was able to walk without a walking stick and without oxygen. I explored wooded areas and the dream ended looking out from a mountain top at green valleys. The view reminded me of ones I have seen in the Smokey Mountains. I am wondering at the message.

Gonna watch some football!

It's half time. My back hurts... it hurts a lot. THe kitty kids are making lots of demands which I've been hard pressed to meet; but I did. 

I've taken some more ibuprofen. I hope it takes hold fast.

I've been immobilized with back pain for the past three days. Sitting is painful but standing and walking is agonizing. I am treating the pain with the VA prescribed  ibuprofen with little result. The only real relief I have had has been laying flat with my legs raised. Thus, I've gotten very little housework done. I need this pain to end soon!

My lower back has continued to ache all day. If It isn't better tomorrow, I'm going to try to drive to the VA ER.

Meanwhile, Alex has been very, very needy today. It has been difficult to write with Alex sleeping on my hand.

It's impossible to write with Alex sitting on the keyboard.

That's OK, since I've spent more time cuddling Alex that writing.

Now I'm shutting down to watch Monday Night Football with the kitty kids.
